Severe flooding devastated Central Texas in late July, especially in Center Point, Kerr County. Roads disappeared under water, homes were damaged or destroyed, and entire communities were cut off. Traditional rescue vehicles were often unable to reach those in need.
That’s where SHERP came in.
Deployed on the very first night of the flooding, SHERP amphibious all-terrain vehicles began active search and rescue missions. Built for the world’s most extreme conditions, SHERP can operate in areas where helicopters and conventional vehicles cannot, navigating submerged roads, debris fields, and flooded rural zones.
Rapid Response from a Texas-Based Team
Headquartered in Texas, SHERP North America was positioned to respond without delay. Within hours, SHERP vehicles were mobilized and in operation. Vice President – John Michael Gavit led the efforts on the ground.
In some heartbreaking cases, SHERP was involved in recovery missions, helping local authorities retrieve the bodies of those lost to the floods.
SHERP is proud to support and collaborate with the brave first responders of Kerr County, the Texas Task Forces, local sheriff departments, and dedicated organizations like the United Cajun Navy, who shared real-time footage of our vehicles in action.
Together, this coalition has created a response network that stretches beyond the limits of roads or infrastructure proving that with the right equipment and courage, no area is out of reach.
